Do you think you are not registered with the Slovak Social Insurance Agency?

Working without social insurance can have serious consequences for your future. If you have an employment contract, your employer must register you with the Social Insurance Agency. This is your legal right and an important protection if you become ill, have an accident at work, lose your job, or retire.

Many workers do not regularly check whether they have actually been registered. Sometimes they only discover there is a problem when they need sickness benefits or after a workplace accident.

Failing to register an employee may also be a sign of undeclared work. If the Labour Inspectorate finds that your employer has employed without social security registration, the employer will be fined and lose the right to employ foreign workers. If you are a foreign worker, you may also lose your residence permit. Even in this situation, you still have 60 days to find a new job.

How can you check whether you are registered?

You can check your social insurance registration through the Social Insurance Agency’s online services or by contacting one of its offices. If you find any problems, ask your employer for an explanation and keep your employment contract, payslips, and any other documents that prove your employment.
